Our Mount Tongariro Report
The Rise Of Mount Tongariro.
New Zealand's Mount Tongariro has roared back to life after 150 years asleep. Parts of the North Island spreading as far as Napier, Taupo and Wanganui have been covered with thick ash. Flights to Napier have been delayed and pilots have been told not to fly aeroplanes near Mt Tongariro because of the smoke.
I am standing in the town where Mount Tongariro has erupted. The people here said that they were so terrified they thought they were going to die. All they could hear was big crashing noises. Residents say their hearts were beating so fast they almost had heart attacks. Babies were crying, children were screaming, dog’s barking, cats hissing and many other animals making their terrified noises. Locals report that the eruption started around 11:50 pm, close to midnight.
Farmers are worried about their water and food supplies, as water and food for animals are covered in ash. Ponds and river seem to be covered in a thin layer of what appears to be paint. People were seeking shelter as lava and boulders came spurting out of the top of the enormous giant.
Following last nights eruption, local people woke up to find the ground covered in a thick layers of ash. Flights have been cancelled, roads and tracks have been closed. people now face a big clean up after this eruption has taken place.
At first people did not heed the warnings and didn't take it seriously. Then at 11:50 PM on Monday 21 November, Mt Tongariro took everyone by surprise by unleashing ash, smoke and boulders towards houses, farming lands and ponds. People were regretting not taking the warning seriously. Volcanologists say that the eruption was just a one of event, worst case scenario is that this is the beginning of a bigger and terrible eruption.
People are not sure when the next eruption will take place. They have been told that if they are caught in ash fall, cover your face, seek shelter, protect eyes with goggles. Don’t wear contact lenses however if you need to make sure you wear goggles as well. We can’t stop mother nature but we can take steps to protect our eye sight.
Hi this is a report that Mahdia, Kapri and I on Mt Tongariro's eruption.

Our Rock Cycle
Hi this is a Google draw that Phoenix and I made about the rock cycle. First we had to do a dictation race where one person has to memorize a few sentences and then go back to his/her partner and tell them the lines they memorized. The partner then has to write down exactly what his/her partner has said. This goes on until they have written down everything the memorizing partner has told them. You then check if you have written everything by checking on the paper. You then have to ask your teacher what your time is and you write it down.

Our Maths Activity
Hi this is a picture on the maths we did. We cut out the 100's grid piece by piece, than we stuck them in order across news print. After that Mrs Anderson gave each table a timetables number, our table had the 7 timetable. We were told we had to skip count from 36 to the end of the 100 grid. We had to colour the number we landed on after every 7 numbers. We had to skip count forwards and backwards from 36 and colour in, we all worked collaboratively.
KWL Chart
Hi this is a KWL that Leila, Jazmine, Henry, Andre and I made about volcanoes. The 'K' stands for what I know, the 'W' is what I want to know and the 'L' is the one what I learnt. The 'L' needs to be filled at the end of the term.

My Character Description
Character Description
Mount Tongariro:
Is a courageous and unbreakable mountain. He is brave and noble as he fights Taranaki, Tauhara and Putauaki to win the battle for the gentle Pechanga's love. He is also indestructible and agile mountain who up to today stands with the lovely Pihanga.
Mount Taranaki:
is very different to Mount Tongariro as he is rude, sometimes very violent and bad tempered. He is moody and disrespectful as he fights his childhood friend Mount Tongariro to win Pihanga as his bride.
Mount Tauhara:
is chicken hearted, sneaky and devious because he is not very brave and noble like Mount Tongariro or strong like Mount Taranaki. After his defeat, Mt Tauhara, the romantic kept on looking back to catch a last sight of the beautiful Pihanga.
Mount Putauaki:
is just like Mount Tauhara, he too is sneaky, chicken hearted and devious. After his defeat he travelled swiftly because he wanted to put much distance between him and his lost love. He journeyed to the very end of the flat lands of Kaingaroa
Mount Pihanga: She plays a character that is loyal, pretty and is in love with two mountains. Her nature is very gentle, sweet and kind hearted. She now stands with the noble Mt Tongariro in the North Island.
This is my character description about Mount Tongariro, Taranaki, Pihanga, Tauhara and Putauaki.

Our Fun Activity
Make your own slide show at Animoto.
This is my Animoto on the fun activity Room 9 had with Miss Paton. We had to put a open bottle of coke centimetres away from a chair, than someone has to stand on the chair and drop a mentos aiming for the hole on the top of the bottle. The first person to drop a mentos into the hole was Kane who was grinning wildly. The minute that Kane dropped the mentos into the coke, the coke began to bubble and looked like it was boiling. Suddenly coke was spilling out like fireworks. It was very funny and amazing at the same time.Thursday, 1 August 2013

Out of the 514 people who filled in an application, she was chosen as one of the 60 lucky people who were given the opportunity to go Chicago for the Google Teachers Academy to learn all sort of new Google Apps. When we asked how was the experience she answered with a huge smile saying "It was a fantastic experience!!!". Room 9 is very lucky to have Miss Paton to teach us what she has learned.
