My report on Baron Pierre De Courbertin By Asmah

My Report On Baron Pierre De Courbertin
Baron Pierre De Coubertin was the founder of the modern day Olympics. He was really passionate about sports. If it weren't for him we wouldn't be having the Olympics this year in London.

Baron Pierre De Coubertin was born on 1st January in 1863 in Paris, France. He was the fourth child of an aristocratic family. His father Charles Louis Frédy, Baron de Coubertin was an artist whose paintings were displayed in  Parisian salons. His mother  Marie–Marcelle Gigault de Crisenoy was a musician. His relationship with his parents was somewhat strained.

In 1884, he went to law school and found out that law school wasn't for him. So pulled out of his course after one year. He went to study in another department and studied science and politics. During this time his interests were into education and sports. In 1883 Baron De Coubertin went to England where he observed education systems, where he encouraged people to have physical education in schools in England. In 1880 he took part in the school sport competitions in Paris. He also formed a committee designed to be responsible for physical education in schools.

Baron went to England and met a fellow called William Penny Brookes. William started the Much Wenlock Olympian Games.

Between 1873 and 1881 he studied the Ancient Olympics. In 1892 he organized a conference with the possibility of renewing the Olympics. In 1892 at a conference he presented his knowledge and ideas on the history of sport. He also shared in the conference his visions of reviving the Olympic Games.

Baron started a family of his own,  but sadly they didn’t turn out well. His son became retarded after being in the sun too long and his daughter became very depressed and never married. He and his wife Marie, blamed each other for their children. They also brought up their nephews and loved them more like they were their real children. Unfortunately they died in the World War 1.

Baron was the president of the International Olympic Committee but then  became the 2nd president of the International Olympic Committee. Pierre put more money into the committee than others. When he died his family struggled with money. Pierre thought women should not compete at the Olympic games. Some people did not agree with him. This resulted in him losing his presidency of the committee, despite the amount of money he had put into the organization.
In 1914 Pierre designed the Olympic flag.
Pierre died when walking through a park. Pierre`s heart was taken out. His heart was buried at the Olympic stadium in Athens. The rest of his body was buried in back in France.

Baron Pierre de Coubertin he will never be forgotten. He has made unbelievable records. He will always be remembered no matter what.
